In case you haven't been in any Goodwill, boutique craft store like Scrap, Fred Meyer or the world since Halloween, you might not know: it's Christmas. That's right, we're already far down the slippery slope that starts with carving pumpkins and ends with an anti-climactic "Happy New Year!"
Enter PDX Pop-Up Shops. Every year, a hub of local makers occupy a vacant storefront in Old Town ("a hub for creative class industries," according to the organizers). Some pop-up alums have since found brick-and-mortar homes of their own, like Crafty Wonderland, Boys Fort and Bridge and Burn.
Open through December 24, this year's pop-ups include:
● Stubborn Stiles paper crafts and jewelry
● Folk wood furniture and cutting boards
● Draplin Design Co. Field Notes
● Omiyage Japanese gifts
GO: PDX Pop-Up Shops are at 438 NW Broadway and 341 NW Fifth Ave., 799-8091. 11 am-7 pm Tuesdays-Saturdays, 12-5 pm Sundays through Dec. 24.
