Some may be tempted to dismiss Bar Bar as a means to an end, a burger-and-tallboy baby sibling to North Portland concert hall Mississippi Studios. But consider treating it as a destination in its own right—a patio bar with a laid-back atmosphere less suited to making new friends than meeting old ones, with a solid lineup of $5 crafts and $6 house wines, and old movies projected in a rustic, flannel-packed beer garden outfitted with a fire pit. If you're feeling rowdier, you can always hit up a boilermaker starting at $7.50, or the housemade take on Fireball, and use your excess adrenaline at whatever show is playing next door.
Happy hour: 4-6 pm daily. $6 margarita and bloody mary deals, 11 am-4 pm.
