Beer Hall: Peche Fest, Zoiglhaus Oktoberfest, and Deschutes Vintage Night

Portland Beer Events for the Week of October 6, 2016.

As fall wags its wet tail across the city, darker seasonal and post-harvest brews start popping up across town, providing plenty to distract from these dreary days.

Whether tapping into Oregon's many delicious peach beers, tasting some rare cellared treats, or enjoying an Oktoberfest that doesn't actually take place during Oktoberfest (the real Bavarian deal officially ended on October 3), you'll find plenty of liquid courage a-flowing here.

Handmade Beer and Bike Festival

Two of our city's favorite activities combine once again this fall, as the Beer and Bike Festival returns with six breweries in tow. Think of this as an ideal time to shop for new paint, frames, and grip tape, all while enjoying the quaffable ales of Widmer, Baerlic, Hopworks, Falling Sky and more. The North Warehouse, 723 N Tillamook St. 5-9 pm October 7, 10 am-8 pm October 8. $20 for beer and bike entry, $10 for just bike entry.

Deschutes Vintage Night

The dark beer season begins with a few cellared selections from Bend, which bless the condo-lined North Williams' best ale apothecary this week. Especially sought-after pours of vintage Abyss and Black Butte Porter will help ease any pain associated with now-drizzly commutes on this bike corridor. Tin Bucket, 3520 N Williams Ave. 5-8 pm. Free.

Peche Fest

Do you dare to drink a peach? Try 25 of them—from classics like the 2016 versions of Logsdon's Peche 'n Brett and Upright's Fantasia to the Imperial Stone Bu from de Garde, a tart peach Berliner Weisse from Great Notion, and entries from Almanac, Block 15, Pfriem and Cascade—whether wit, brett, barrel-aged, kettle-sour or cider. A $25 VIP session goes from 1 to 3 pm, and then all hell breaks loose for a mere $10 admission. Saraveza, 1004 N Killingsworth St. 3-10 pm. $10-25.

Zoiglhaus Oktoberfest

Last week was Rosenstadt. The week before was Occidental. This week it's Zoiglhaus (and Widmer in the square, if you're into '90s alt-rock). Portland's German breweries each get their own Oktoberfest. But this one should be damn good, especially as regards the beautiful hefeweizen and helles lager, even more so than the liter steins of fresh-hop Oktoberfest. Zoiglhaus, 5716 SE 92nd Ave. 3 pm. Free.

Widmer Oktoberfest

Widmer's biggest Oktoberfest yet satisfies beer bros of all ages with the sultry sounds of 94.7 FM DJ Gustav, who champions various lesser known pop-alt-rockers while the brewery offers an assortment of ales which would be better (and much more affordably) drank and its own pub. Pioneer Courthouse Square, SW 6th & Yamhill. 12-9 pm. $25-75.

N.W.I.P.A. Burger Monday With Melvin Brewing

Jackson Wyatt slams hophead loyalists with cabs and fresh pours of Melvin Brewing's Hubert Pale Ale and 2×4 double IPA this Monday, in a pairing which also includes the beer bar 's famed mythical Monday burger. N.W.I.P.A., 6350 SE Foster Rd. 6-8 pm. Free.
