Friday Nov. 3

Bicycle Missing C

In the always-cool cause of raising cash for the CCC (Community Cycling Center), ACME hosts a musical mash-up of local bands for a benefit show. Plus, area REI stores are accepting bike donations all day Saturday for CCC's Holiday Bike Drive. Call 546-8864 if you'd like to volunteer to help fix bikes at REI. ACME, 1305 SE 8th Ave. Call 230-9020 for more information. 9 pm. $5-$10. (Super Duper.) Easy.

Fri.-Sun. Nov. 3-5

The Rain That Sticks

Last we checked Mount Hood's snowcams, nice powder was scarce. But for some, receiving a two-for-one lift ticket to Skibowl at the Expo show is worth getting teased. Portland Expo Center, 2060 N Marine Drive, portlandskifever.com. 1 pm Friday, 10 am Saturday-Sunday. $10. Easy.

Saturday Nov. 4

Hydro-glyphics 201

Here's Part Deux of why you shouldn't piss where you drink. Half classroom workshop/half watershed tour, this free offering goes more in depth than Groundwater 101 (which is not a prerequisite). Experts reveal how watersheds keep us from drinking stuff like our own urine. Meet at the NECA-IBEW Electrical Training Center, 16021 NE Airport Way. To register, visit columbiaslough.org. Free. Easy.

"Life, Death and Denali"

Tonight Timberline Mountain Guides' Bob Lehman recounts his own Aron Ralston story, minus the amputation. Meet in the Parsons Room of McMenamins Kennedy School, 5736 NE 33rd Ave., 6:30 pm. For tickets, call 360-699-5161. $20. Easy.

Sunday Nov. 5

World Run Day

Begun in 1999 to benefit local charities worldwide, the World Run event this year solely benefits world hunger, specifically the U.N.'s World Food Programme. Run anywhere you'd like in Portland for as long as you'd like or sign up as a "Virtual Runner" and only double-click your mouse. Either way, a great cause! Register at runday.com. $20. Easy.

Emission-less Mission

Green machine Tim Harvey heralds this slideshow presentation covering his own near-complete two-plus-year journey circling the globe without the use of fossil fuels. My suggestion: Attend the event using one of his modes of transport (i.e., bike or feet). ACME, 1305 SE 8th Ave., vancouvertovancouver.com.7 pm. Free. Easy.
