Dim Sum Yum Yum

As if Pix Pâtisserie didn't have enough charms to woo you already, the sweets-makers continue to engage their cruise missile of persuasion: Dim Sum Yum Yum. It's exactly what it sounds like—the crew attacks stomachs with wheelie carts bearing mini versions of Pix faves like the Royale, Amélie and pear-rosemary tart. Really, this is the sweetest war you'll ever lose. Pix Pâtisserie, 3402 SE Division St., 232-4407. 7 pm Wednesday, June 6. $15 for six desserts of your choice. Call for details.

North American Organic Brewers Festival

Suds lovers with a conscience converge in North Portland this weekend for the world's largest gathering of organic brewers. Sample Irish stouts, Northwest IPAs and Belgian witbiers from more than 25 brewers (including Münster-based organic beer innovators Pinkus Müller) committed to getting soused without the bitter-man-made-chemical face. Make sure to raise a mug while yer there to Southeast Portland's Roots Brewing, Oregon's own first organic brewer. Overlook Park, 1301 N Fremont St. 3-9 pm Friday and noon-9 pm Saturday, June 8-9. Admission free, sampling mugs $5, taste tickets $1. All ages. For more info, visit naobf.org.

Fearless Brewing Company Fourth Anniversary

Speaking of suds, Estacada's own Fearless Brewing Company celebrates its fourth birthday in bucolic style with dancing, tons of pints and live bluegrass from Lost Creek. And really, who doesn't want to celebrate a local outfit that boasts "beers brewed in your hometown from the magical waters of the Clackamas River"? Wow. Fearless Brewing Co., 326 S Broadway, Estacada, 630-2337. 7 pm Saturday, June 9. Free. 21+.

Raccoon Lodge Celebrates Fleet Week

Everybody knows that one of the best parts of Rose Fest is flirting with the sailors who hit town each year. Southwest Portland's Raccoon Lodge (which is actually a brewpub, contrary to its motel-like moniker) has done the heavy lifting for uniform junkies, hosting a contingent of "50 naval personnel" for an afternoon "thank the troops" party packed with Cascade Brewing Company brews, barbecue, and rock and reggae from the charmingly named Sauce Policy. How you want to personally thank the troops...well, that's up to you. Raccoon Lodge, 7424 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Highway, 296-0110. Noon-4:30 pm. Free.

Kids Cook in the Market

Your kids are lazy. Barely outta school for the year and they're off playing—gabbing with their so-called friends, watching TV and engaging in God knows what other kinds of fun. Enough of that. It's time to put them to work, dammit. Portland Farmers Market understands your need for cheap, underage labor and has complied, with its new Kids Cook series at the Saturday market. First up, Three Square Grill/Picklopolis chef David Barber initiates youngsters into the world of the brine. Later this month, it's veggie calzones from David Yudkin of Hotlips Pizza, etc., etc. Soon enough, your 7-year-old will be able to debone a chicken or make a fresh fruit upside-down cake on his own—leaving your busy schedule open for a pedicure or strip-club assignation or somethin'. Portland State University, Cramer Hall, Room 187, 1721 SW Broadway. 10-11:30 am Saturday, June 9. $15. Ages 7-11. Pre-registration and -payment required. Call 241-0032 to register or visit portlandfarmersmarket.org.
