Drip. Drip. (Well-lubed tears of joy!) Yup, Shift's 17-day kaleidoscope of bike-y mayhem returns in fine form for its sixth year. Whether you're into nature, jousts, museums, movies, polo, birthday suits, pure carnage, or whatever, there's a little sumpin' sumpin' for all the cycle-minded. A few highlights include Bike to Skate Potlucks, the Stumptown Joustdown, cinematic "bike porn" and the Multnomah County Bike Fair. Check the website for last-minute calendar adds. Eureka...It Floats!
The Willy River's gonna test Archimedes' Principle for sure today. As crowds line the waterfront to watch heats of the dragon boat races (rosefestival.org), two local rowing clubs (Station L and Lake Oswego) will be providing free sweep-rowing lessons as part of National Learn to Row Day. Having thoroughly enjoyed the Lake O class I took last spring, I say to hull with congestion! Station L Rowing Club, 49 SE Clay St. 10 am-noon. Email pdxrowingclasses@yahoo.com to register. Free. Easy. Lake Oswego Community Rowing, Charlie S. Brown Water Sports Center, Lake Oswego. lorowing.org. 10 am-4 pm. Call 697-6503 to register. Free. Easy.

All-Comer Track Meets
Ever wonder how'd you fare reliving those high-school track glory days...with your current beer gut? The shameful speculation's over thanks to Foot Traffic's summer series of all-age track meets (Tuesdays through July 17). Reminisce over the long jump, shot put, high jump or 100M, 200M, 400M and 800M runs. Or try something new like the softball throw, Predict-a-Mile (closest self-predicted finish time earns a prize) or 4K cross-country run. Grant Park, between Northeast 33rd Avenue and U.S. Grant Place. 6 pm. foottraffic.us. $2. Easy-Difficult.
Curling Match Redux
Back on Jan. 26, 1847, the Columbia River froze over at Fort Vancouver. British Army officers stationed there decided to make the most of it and challenged British Navy officers to a game of curling. The Navy won. Now, 160 years later, it's payback! Well, sort of. The Evergreen Curling Club has challenged the crews from two of the visiting tall ships to a reenactment of this very scene, without the frostbite. Participants welcomed. Lloyd Center Ice Rink, 953 Lloyd Center. evergreencurling.org. 7:30-9:30 pm. $10-$20 (free to watch). Easy.
