2036 SE Belmont St., 503-477-8953, belmontcollective.com. Noon-8 pm Sunday-Thursday, noon-9 pm Friday and Saturday.
This tiny shop sits across from the Conquistador, at the western edge of the Belmont bar district. It's decidedly lo-fi and takes the collectivist spirit seriously—it doesn't mark the growers, which come from all over. But if you ask about the high-CBD strain called Earl Blumenauer, the staff will not only tell you it comes from a small operation called Mary's Garden, but actually show you a black-and-white photo of the garden, and then talk about the direction of the wind at the farm, like a wine seller discussing a particular block of pinot noir on Ribbon Ridge. If you want to try some of that premium nano-batch stuff, the shop sells many strains by the half-gram for $7.50.
