Last year, I was fortunate enough to get to watch Rogue One: A Star Wars Story early. In my review, I held the opinion that Rogue One, set aside from the rest of the modern Star Wars films by its compelling storytelling, excellent performances and heartwrenching finale, made it the best film in the series since The Empire Strikes Back, if not the actual best Star Wars film.

Related: Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie.

But will my objectively correct take stand up against the newest installment in the Star Wars extended universe? I thought it would, until I saw this:

The return of Luke Skywalker? Check. Callbacks to the original trilogy that re-contextualize its themes for a new generation of film goers? Check. Some cute-ass creature that's going to sell $500 million in stuffed toys just in time for Christmas 2017? Hell fucking yes, dude!

This little guy, coming to a Christmas tree near you. (Lucasfilm)

If you haven't yet watched the trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, you'd better find yourself two and a half minutes. No matter how many times you complained about The Force Awakens on Twitter, you're going to be sucked right back in to a universe of tie fighters, lightsabers and the unending battle between good and evil, just like the rest of us.

And most importantly, you aren't going to want to be stuck learning the Big Plot Twist from some guy you went to high school who spoiled it on Facebook 16 minutes after he went to the midnight premiere.

Luckily for you, you can beat Shane to the punch. Fandango has tickets to Star Wars: The Last Jedi available now for opening night in theaters across Portland.

Don't find out that Princess Leia (RIP Carrie Fisher!) and C-3PO finally kiss from someone else. Don't let your friend tell you "it basically has the exact same plot as The Empire Strikes Back." Don't let someone else tell you that Adam Driver is turning into one of the most compelling leading men of our generation. Find all of that out for yourself, whether you want to learn it at Pioneer Place in downtown Portland, Century Cedar Hills in Beaverton, or even Bridgeport Village out in *shudders* Tigard.

Get your tickets for The Last Jedi today, and may the Force be with you. And not with someone who lets it slip that Rey and Kylo Ren are brother and sister or something.

Buy tickets to Star Wars: The Last Jedi from Fandango here.
