You read it right, Pearl District is apparently the best neighborhood Portland has to offer—and one of the 25 best in the country.
Our newest semi-factual superlative comes from HotSpot Rentals, which just released their top 25 hottest neighborhoods in America list, which was topped by the Mission in San Francisco. The Pearl District came in no. 6.
And yes, Seattle beat us. Capitol Hill came in at no. 4. Damn.
As er—honored—as we are is to make the list, we feel that there are better neighborhoods to live. Most of them, in fact. We write about Portland's other, less "hot" neighborhoods here.
The list was compiled based on measurements in six categories: walkability, transit, budget, entertainment, lifestyle and weather. The Pearl was highest in walkability, but lowest in overall entertainment—we are guessing that the Pearl's roof top bar scene gets less entertaining when the rain comes.
Anyway, here's the top 10:
1. The Mission, San Francisco
2. Bushwick, New York City
3. Jackson Square, San Francisco
4. Capitol Hill, Seattle
5. Sunset Park, New York
6. Pearl District, Portland
7. North Park, San Diego
8. Shaw, Washington, D.C.
9. Old Fourth Ward, Atlanta
10. Central East Austin, Austin
