The Laurel vs. Yanny Debate Has Taken Over Laurelhurst Park

It's now Yannyhurst Park.

(Joe Riedl)

The battle over Laurel vs. Yanny has claimed Laurelhurst park.

The Instagram story posted earlier this week of an audio recording that, due to muddled frequencies, can sound like either "Yanny" or "Laurel," has created enough of a rift that one Portlander decided to rename one of the city's most beloved parks to reflect their stance.

Apparently, a vigilante in the Laurelhurst area is really adamant that the recording says "Yanny." Early today, someone took it upon themselves to pin a sign that reads "Yanny" to the park's sign so that it now reads "Yannyhurst Park."

Regardless of what you hear, it's a lot more clever than yet another tweet or think piece.
