[May 17th, 2006] Although the name sounds more like a plumbing superhero than a coffeeshop, so far Extracto (2921 NE Killingsworth St., 281-1764) is getting everything right: Stumptown coffee, wi-fi, fleamarket-minimalist decor, nutmeg grinder. Chris Brady (yeah, the bass player from the '90s Portland grunge band Pond !) and his wife, Celeste, launched the cafe two weeks ago, to the relief of neighbors who are sick of lugging their Powerbooks all the way over to Northeast Alberta Street. Speaking of which, Northeast Portland also just got a new calming influence in the shape of Matt Thomas and Dominic Valdes ' second Tea Chai Té outpost, at 2223 NE Alberta St. Their original "tea bar" has been pimpin' Ceylon to oolong on Northwest 23rd Avenue since late 2004.
