[August 16th, 2006] Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard's Billy Reed's brewpub is a goner. Tuesday, Aug. 22, the space's current tenant, Spice , will celebrate its grand opening, serving "American food with Asian flavoring to it." According to Spice's website (spiceofportland.com) the restaurant has "the newest Water Bar in Portland." Which we're assuming refers to a patio with a waterfall—or a bar devoted to artisan and specialty H2Os. Which would be simultaneously stupid and awesome . The neato Food Innovation Center has paired up with P-town's Small Business Development Center and Oregon State University to launch a 15-week class called Northwest Food Business Start-Up . Professionals will hold yer hand through manufacturing, distributing and marketing your revolutionary food idea. Is it worth a $1,995 price tag? Well, in a Food Network-worthy turn, the student deemed to have the best product/biz plan wins $2,000 and shelf space at New Seasons markets . Check out foodbizstartup.com for all the info. Register for Start-Up's Aug. 23 intro class by Aug. 21.
