[April 2nd, 2008]

The body fluid that constitutes 7 percent of our overall weight is spilling all over our streets this week.

IT’S EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK .

In honor of blood’s pumped-up role in Portland’s vascular system, we’ve diagrammed a handful of this week’s events and their blood ties to our human organs.

See interactive graphic below...

WEDNESDAY APRIL 2

[MUSIC] LOCH LOMOND, LE LOUP, THE RUBY SUNS

Auckland’s Ruby Suns join chamber-folk wizards Loch Lomond, and bring their pop pyschedelia—dreamy instrumentation, quirky lyrics and bubbling eclecticism—with ’em. Holocene, 1001 SE Morrison St., 239-7639. 9 pm. $7. 21+.

THURSDAY APRIL 3

[MUSIC] GHOSTLAND OBSERVATORY

Austin’s Ghostland Observatory is all about synths, beats and balls—the balls to sing their soulful asses off à la Prince, the balls to take the stage in capes or pigtails, the balls to dance. What’s not to love? Crystal Ballroom, 1332 W Burnside St., 225-0047. 8 pm. $18. All ages.

FRIDAY APRIL 4

[ROCK OPERA] TOY ROOM Local Björk-ish performer Sally Tomato premieres her new rock opera. Wonder Ballroom, 128 NE Russell St., 284-8686. 7 and 9 pm Friday-Saturday (21+), 1 pm Sunday (all ages). Closes April 6. $19.
