Milk

The inspiration: Gus Van Sant goes back to the early days of the sexual revolution in his compelling biopic of slain gay civil-rights activist Harvey Milk. Van Sant, who filmed on the streets of San Francisco, took along a few Portlanders to help out on the project, including the Parson boys: David, John, Paul and Peter. The offspring of Mary and Brian Parson, who own the Parson Berry Farm on Sauvie Island, the brothers served as extras and stuntmen-in-training for the movie, set in the ’70s. They also fit quite nicely into the old-school styles of sartorially savvy local design company Duchess Clothier and others available at Winn Perry.
Release date: Dec. 5.

The fashion: On Pete: Obedient Sons shirt, $95; Duchess Viceroy vest $290; Duchess Viceroy trouser, $230; vintage silk tie, $20; Grenson noble shoes, $250.
