[March 1st, 2006] SHOW TIME Scoop's gotten word that Viva Las Vegas , Portland's premier stripper-slash-columnist, and her boy toy, Diamond Tuck , have headed to Chicago to begin shooting the pilot for a new Showtime reality series , A More Perfect Union. Couples on the show will engage in a weeklong workshop with renowned sex therapist Dr. Laura Berman in an effort to reach their "full sexual potential" —and here we thought that Viva had already reached hers.

HOOT FOR HOOTERS Dolly Parton 's unique style of pneumatic femininity flooded the Mississippi Pizza Pub Feb. 19, as the queen of country's songs were redone by 14 different acts, Portland-style. Amber Martin described the scene as "highly Sapphic ." More than 50 people were turned away from the evening that raised more than $1,000 for Siren Nation , a three-day festival scheduled for November 2007 that will showcase women's music, performance art and film.

GOLD-MEDAL SALE A small, specialty juggling shop on Southeast Division Street just put Portland on the map at the 2006 Olympics in Turin, Italy. Serious Juggling sold an order of 75 specialty juggling clubs to Cirque du Soleil that were flipped and tossed at Sunday's closing ceremonies for the games. The shop also sold other juggling equipment to individual performers at the massive circus bash in Italy. Serious co-owner Ben Schoenberg wouldn't confirm what size of an Olympic bill of sale we're talkin' here, but Scoop did find out that a regular Serious juggling club costs about $35—so that's at least a $2,625 order. Ka-ching!

STICKY FINGERS Dreams of seeing Mudhoney lip-syncing on Voodoo Doughnuts' itty-bitty stage were squashed like the shop's infamous Nyquil-glazed Doughnut last Sunday. Seattle's grunge institution filmed the first video for its new record, Under a Billion Suns, in Stumptown's favorite hole-in-the-wall. After it was clear the band wouldn't be present at the shoot, the cramped cast of nearly 100 erupted in a scripted food fight, leaving many jelly and custard stained faces.
