[September 20th, 2006] Taste of Mexico , a new full-meal deal at 716 NW 21st Ave., says hola with border-crossin' breakfasts, taqueria lunches and regional Mexican plates at dinner seven days a week. Owner and Mexico City native Salvador Avila and his crew spent months rehabbing the space, turning a dog-friendly juice bar into a sleek, bright dining room that opened Tuesday, Sept. 12. >> Last week's Dish review of Kenny & Zuke 's contained a few inaccuracies. Although K&Z is not technically kosher, as a Jewish-style deli it strives toward kosher-ness and therefore never uses lard as our review implied. Also, K&Z's bagels are not "homemade" but baked by local outfit Touch of Grace Bakery . Apologies for our blunders. >> Calling all vegans, buccaneers and anime fans: Check out piratestavern.com , the most bizarre future local restaurant website we've ever seen. This, ahem, vegan pirate bar , located at 2839 NE St. Helens Road, had a "pre-grand opening" last night but, trust us, the site has to be seen to be believed.
