Twilight

BY BYRON BECK | 503 243-2122

[September 24th, 2008]

Twilight
The inspiration: Based on the first book in author Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling series of teen novels, Twilight sinks its teeth into the tale of Bella (Kristen Stewart) and her hot teen vampire boyfriend, the 100-year-old Edward (Robert Pattinson). Devoured by rabid fans both young and old (TwilightMOMs, anyone? See “Mommie Fiercest,” WW, April 30, 2008), director Catherine Hardwicke’s romantic-horror chick flick–which was shot in and around Portland–is one of the most anticipated movies this year. Moody teen angst plays nice with this fall’s dark-hued fashion vibe.
Release date: Nov. 21.

The fashion: On Brittany: Sofada by Alice Dobson’s accordion party dress, $180, at Sofada, 2937 E Burnside St., 445-2006.
On Joe: Collier 100-percent wool suit, $750; Royalist dress shirt, $185; Ateseta silk tie, $75; Collier, 340 SW Morrison St., 224-5473.

I hate to be the bringer of bad news but none well a majority of the twilight fandom doesnt like your twilight inspired photoshoto. It doesnt convey much a twilight sense plus, I dont seem to find any twilight related features just the apple and the fog. In addition, your female model seems to be flat and at times your made model does to.

Yvette,

thanks. I am curious where the twilight fans are talking about this...it seems like the conversation a lot of them had when rob and kristen were cast...also...that is the exact spot where they filmed a scene from the movie....i was there when they shot it...(and yes, unlike the TwilightMoms I actually had permission to be there). It was a hard spot to get to..even more so know that the gorge is turning it into a pubic park....so it would have been impossible to drive bella's truck to the location.

Unbelievable. Once again Byron is desperate for attention and will do anything to link his name with twilight. Jeez, you'd think for something he hates so much he would go out of his way to stay away from it - yet here he is pimping himself out once again. You'd think that the editors of this rag would finally get a clue and realize all he puts out is crap and the only reason people are reading it is because of the word twilight. Too bad when they realize its crap, they think the rest of the rag must be full of crap. Byron is a non fact checking hack who can't write anything worthwhile.

Honestly, if there wasn't an apple, the backround, and the actual name "Twilight", I wouldn't have realized that this photoshoot was based off of Twilight. Sorry, but there isn't that "spunk" (no pun intended) that would catch my eye, or for that matter, remind me of Twilight. Next!

Little one  writes on Sep 29th, 2008 7:39pm

Byron Beck: lose the attitude please. Even if people are critisising your stuff, you don't have to be rude about it. The photos don't showcase the location at all, so try to get off your high horse, because unless they read your nasty response to Yvette's comment, they wouldn't know. The gorge isn't all that hard to get to. I would know, i live around there. :) thanks

I think the models should have been more pale. The woman is pretty tan! And plus, if they were pale it would really stand out against their black clothes. Could have used a redder apple as well.

Andrea  writes on Sep 30th, 2008 5:55pm

Um. well I have to say that, while the location of the photo shoot looks lovely, the models look rather...bored. They don't seem to have any chemistry what so ever between them. Not even a hint of a smile. They're like wax figures. Other than the apple, I just don't see the resemblance to Twilight.

Honestly...the models are all wrong. And some of the poses. They only thing that relates to Twilight is the setting and the use of an apple in some of the shots. (Which should have been reader so it would stand out.) Did you guys even read the books?

Joan  writes on Sep 30th, 2008 8:11pm

This isn't Twilight at all. The models look like mannequins in a store. No chemistry, no emotion. And the clothing looked off in that location. But, what really bother me was one of the photos. The one where the male model has his hand up in the air, it looked like he slapped her! Edward would never even think about hurting Bella. That stunned me. The point is: Don't use Twilight just for publicity!

Hahaha  writes on Sep 30th, 2008 9:28pm

HAHAHA. You call this Twilight inspired?! HAHAHA.

'nuff said.

HAHAHA.

Kelsey  writes on Sep 30th, 2008 9:41pm

Yeah. I have to agree with the comment below. it just looks...whats the word?--cheap. The Twilight fandom really aren't interested. No more photoshoots inspired by Twilight, just please!

Sarah T.  writes on Sep 30th, 2008 10:47pm

I don't mean to be horribly negative...but, seriously, I wouldn't know this photo shoot was based off Twilight if it hadn't been stated straight-out...except for the apple. The models just look bored and dead and not in the good undead way... someone should really put themselves into something they're doing...like read the books, research, interpret everything dealing with the books, and get models that can model...

Gayl E.  writes on Oct 1st, 2008 12:21am

THE MODELS USED WERE SO WRONG FOR THE PART. Corpses would look more alive than those two.

MHEART  writes on Oct 1st, 2008 5:11am

WTF IS THIS BS? I swear the one picture looks like "Edward" just smacked "Bella." Ri to the diculous! Hate it all. So BLAH and so wannabe R&K, which is impossible. I can't wait to see which of this comments may appear in the print edition. LOL!

romy  writes on Oct 1st, 2008 7:00am

sweet jesus, her make up is too dark!!! They are so wrong for this job, the guy looks to stuck up.

Amalia  writes on Oct 1st, 2008 10:15am

Garbage, Garbage, GARBAGE!!! Not to be so rude. But as a Twilighter, I'm offended! I can model better than those two. IM NOT EVEN A MODEL!! I agree with the rest, STOP using Twilight for publicity. Just 'cause you used a location where a scene was filmed and an apple. Doesn't mean it's Twilight. Want something Twilight inspired, use Rob and Kris.. and while you're at it READ THE BOOK!!! I got bored just watching these pics. Ridiculous!

balbs  writes on Oct 1st, 2008 5:55pm

ok...i know the photoshoot is not THAT twilight...but hey theres no need to be rude..i'm a twilight fan myself and i'm ok with this...at least they took twilight as an inspiration..

It certainly restores my faith in the basic intelligence of humanity to find that this vital and important piece of information received the most comments. Read Twilight while you can, Children--it will most likely be banned after November.

Uh, that's because there will be an ELECTION in November. An election is a thing where some people who are aware that the REAL vampires are going to try to become your King & Queen, will mark pieces of paper to try to keep that from happening...or to make it happen.

But, you shouldn't worry about that. You won't miss the 'blood' that they plan to suck from your lives. You obviously won't notice much of anything except that the apple and location are the only things that connect this...oh never mind...

Jacqueline  writes on Oct 6th, 2008 8:07pm

WOW this is sooooo not twilight what were you thinking? thats insulting to the book and the movie its so cheap! How could ANYONE call this twilight? ugh no way could the lady be called bella and the man is DEFINATELY NOT Edward! The man looks soooo stuck up and the woman isnt even trying!!!Did the lady have a tattoo on her arm? They couldve picked a more attractive model to pose as bella and a less proud one for the man in summary this photo SUCKS!!!
