Finntroll, Warbringer, Ealdath

[METAL AND MORE] Blending Swedish black metal, traditional Finnish polka and gamer mysticism, Finntroll may be the most frightening joke band ever recorded. Not that they believe themselves a joke—listening to tracks from latest album Ur Jordens Djub, it seems thoroughly possible they are indeed Finnish trolls—but…c'mon, read that first sentence again. Although the apocalypic vocals and jagged riffage of a genre created by quasi-fascists fond of church-burning ritual murder does not, at first glance, seem an organic fit with the most rollicking of all traditional folk idioms, the dual passions of Finntr…no, seriously, this is a joke, right? JAY HORTON. Hawthorne Theatre 8 pm. $20 advance, $23 day of show. All ages.

Wednesday September 10

Paul Wall, Skatterman & Snug Brim, Kenny Mack, Double 00

[CRUNK PIE] The syrupy, slo-mo sounds of Paul Wall’s dirty South, Skatterman and Snug Brim’s Midwestern melee, and local “West Coast Bad Boy” Kenny Mack infiltrate the building tonight with baby bottles full of sizzurp, bodies full of tats, mouths full of platinum-and-diamond grills and rap music full of booming bass, saturated synths and coursing crunk. The chopped-and-screwed concert celebrates new albums (and no doubt new clothing lines and beverage endorsements) for everyone. SARA MOSKOVITZ. Hawthorne Theatre 8 pm. $20. All ages.

Tuesday September 16

The Rocket Summer, Phantom Planet, The Secret Handshake, The Morning Light

Hawthorne Theatre 6:30 pm. $15 in advance, $17 at door.
