Animal History Boxes.

PDX Contemporary Art Elizabeth Knight’s saccharine Animal History Boxes will test your glucose tolerance. A succession of wooden boxes and tins adorned with sewn kittens, dogs, and pet birds, the show would make an excellent entry in a craft fair. Only marginally more interesting are painter Nick Blosser’s watercolors and egg tempera paintings.  Blosser is based in Tennessee, but he’s no yokel, having won the Rome Prize and racked up two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts. The paintings are pedestrian and compositionally undistinguished, but they are presented in beautiful frames that echo the paintings’ color schemes. Between Knight’s and Blosser’s contributions, the show rivals Ambien as an insomnia cure.   925 NW Flanders St., 222-0063. Closes Aug. 30.
