This week: feet

This week: Will the advent of the euro prompt us to start calling those things at the end of our legs meters instead of feet?

www.feet
Most foot-related Web sites fall into two categories: graphically medical or overtly sexual. But a few defy bunions and fetishes. "Barefoot Blonde" (personalweb.sierra.net) highlights a plump pair of stompers sporting toe rings and Tevas and some funny text about the grime that builds up between the foot and the shoe. Celebrityfeet.tierranet. com features the toes of Belinda Carlisle, Juliet Lewis, Barbara Mandrell and Reba McEntire.

Spa Pedicure
Slip into At the Salon (2108 NW Glisan St., 295-1242) for a pedicure that goes way beyond painted toes. The best part is a stimulating massage with a lubricating masque of eucalyptus, seaweed and alpha hydroxy acids that sloughs off dead skin and makes your feet tingle for hours.

Candies
The original sassy sandal, popularized by Daisy Duke in the late '70s, hasn't changed much in 20 years. Busty bombshell Jenny McCarthy is the '90s spokesmodel, and the faux-wood slide now has a sturdier heel, but the shoe still has the same slutty veneer. Pick up a pair of Olivias for $28.90 at Nordstrom.

Deep E Co.
Made from sugar sacks, sustainably harvested Amazon latex, hemp and Sustana eco-leather, Deep E Co.'s cushy, low-impact clogs, hiking boots and street sneakers are priced at $60-$80 and (surprise, surprise) come in lovely earth tones. Proceeds from sales benefit redwoods, parks and rubber-tapper cooperatives. The shoes are available at Oregon Mountain Community and Awear or by catalog (1-888-830-3520).

Oddball
Their size-16 feet gave Seth and Zac Longaker a sensitivity to other bigfoots, so they opened Oddball (815 NW Glisan St., 827-7800), which carries Converse, Kenneth Cole and Doc Martens in sizes 12 and up. Oddball's Pearl District location and campy sneakers have led many First Thursday walkers into the shop thinking it's an art exhibit.
