PETA Donates Vegan Jerky Strips to Homeless Families at Former Vegan Strip Club

Activists sending a donation to the Human Solutions Family Shelter, which was once the strip club Black Cauldron.

The news that a former vegan strip club opened as a homeless shelter earlier this month in East Portland captured the attention of the animal-rights activists at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Always friendly to the vegan-friendly and ever ready for a stunt, PETA is sending vegan jerky strips to the new residents of the former vegan strip club.

"This gesture will recognize the building's previous animal-friendly focus and let the vegan strips continue—this time, as delicious animal-friendly snacks for the residents," writes PETA executive director Ingrid Newkirk.

"P.S. We will also send comic books about animals for the kids."

Human Solutions, which opened the remodeled space that was once the Black Cauldron, now has room for 134 families and pregnant women.

"Sometimes this work can get a little overwhelming," Human Solutions executive director Andy Miller tells WW. "This letter lightened our spirits here at Human Solutions just a bit."
