Holocene’s cramped bar can make drinking a challenge on busy show nights. But when you do get your High Life, dancing to whatever electro-psych-krunkpop act that’s playing in the crowded second room just seems so much sweeter. HAPPY HOUR, PHOTO BOOTH, LIVE MUSIC, SMOKING ROOM, MEAT MARKET.

[POST-POST-NOTHING] Though Vancouver’s Japandroids are clearly the stars of tonight’s show—the garage-rock duo’s debut, Post-Nothing, is easily one of the best releases of 2009—the rest of the cross-continental lineup is nothing to sneeze at either. The sunny, fuzzy power pop of Surfer Blood (from the unlikely rock hub of West Palm Beach, Fla.) and the lo-fi post-punk of Little Girls (the solo project of Toronto songwriter Josh McIntyre) should make tasty appetizers for Japandroid’s delicious distortion. Be ready to be amazed, not only by how much noise the two-member band can make, but by how many hooks it can hide amid the racket. REBECCA RABER. Holocene 8:30 pm. $8 advance, $10 day of show. 21+.
