Apparently Willamette Week hands out it's "Voted Portland's Best" to psychics (or anyone else) like candy popcorn. It certainly appears there are no designated run-out dates, no policing of how these are used before the public in solicitations --- and in essense this Willamette Week "Seal of Approval" appears to be nothing more than fuzzy marketing fluff. Thus we have psychics now using the designation for years without apparently any oversight of their unsubstantiated paranormal claims or abilities. I take it Willamette Week is the new 'National Inquirer' when it comes to these 'Voted Portland's Best' toss-outs. How long has the sales department been overseeing the journalistic heritage for credibility at Willamette Week?
I'm a bit confused. As you may know, our Best Of Issue, which recognizes everything from the best pizza to the best elective surgery has two parts: 1)choices by readers(we have an on-line poll) and 2)selections by our staff. Readers choices are mailed a certificate. Staff choices are mailed a sticker. Both the certificate and the sticker have the year printed on them very clearly. So can you give me a bit more detail about your concern?
Thanks for a breaking story about a dishonest moment in a career politician's life.
Personally, after I volunteered four days a week in the Adams campaign for City Council, I did not expect to be cheated out of $30. for takeout, but that's what happened.
Thanks again for indicating that this lifetime politician doesn't hesitate to lie when the stakes are high.
Would you recommend that he resign?
Anyway, it's nice that after decades on the ground, WW can still notch a "get" such as this one. Keeps your blood flowing, I'm sure, Mark! As miserably depressing as these facts are, this is the bedrock of investigative journalism. It would be great if Sam would take his Trojans and slink away, but he'll dig his heels in and make us all suffer for weeks more until the tawdry crud finally reaches its inevitable grim end. There are so many painful levels to these events. Sigh.
