I read your paper's recent article about former OHSU Research Assistant Tony Carr with incredulity. It was just bad reporting, which means bad editing since it got printed.
The article reported Carr's side and OHSU's side of the discussion. But when the article name-dropped some other people who oppose animal research, it failed to balance the article by listing any of the other people--beside OHSU--who support this kind of research.
Also, if Carr's salary at OHSU is pertinent to the article, then certainly his consultant fees for In Defense are relevant as well.
Sincerely,
Ethan Beckley
For a while, it seemed there was a system in place for monitoring anyone posting under a name already used. We lost Julia Gomez, when someone used her name to post comments opposite to her opinion. Same began to happen with a poster using my name with a cap. A, and posting opposite. Effort was made to stop that, but I'm seeing it happening again.
Kelly's Live Review of OBT, 4/20, "Annie" posting at #1, is not me.
Beth's article 4/22, "annie" (interestingly a small a, same as I post), replied to the "gayle harris #17 comment, on Beth's article concerning "Swing Vote Saltzman Wavering on Soccer..."
I did respond to the gaye harris comment #19, 4/23, on the Adams to Wheeler, Sellwood Bridge piece, however.
I know I'm not the only person in town going by annie, but it seems on a blog site, as posters and their opinions are identified by name, that it could be used as a tool for the opposing party, or "Trolls" or "Haters", to get one over on the argument at hand, as a method to confuse and throw the readers off target a bit, and disarm. It's a subtle and not so subtle way to diffuse and disarm.
I also feel it a form of harassement.
Anyway, aren't there methods in place for monitoring attempts to reuse a Poster name already used? It seemed awhile back when I brought it to your attention WWeek was able to get a handle on it. I believe we will see more of it as the Recall date approaches and the arguments get more heated. I think it's important to not give them an inch, they will use whatever means possible to gain ground and keep control.
I believe I've seen other names used as well. You get use to a certain opinion from a name, then out of the blue will come a complete about face, under the same name.
