A small earthquake originating near Laurelhurst Park shook up Portland and parts of Beaverton July 8. The 2.5-magnitude “micro” earthquake was the third detected in the area in two weeks.

An angry tenant allegedly stabbed the manager of his apartment building July 12. Police said the Westwind Hotel Apartments resident was upset by a discussion concerning his residency.

The Oregon Zoo adopted three injured owls July 9. Two, found in the Oregon wilderness, were named Pip and Squeak. The third came from Missouri.

Robbers broke into the Glenbook Apartments the night of July 10 and tied up two residents with duct tape before stealing a rifle and cash. The victims said they were playing video games when the robbers entered the apartment.
