HISTORY PARTY: Portland Center Stage is offering $20 tickets to both Ragtime, a moving musical about life at the turn of the past century, and Ben Franklin: Unplugged, a one-man deconstruction of founding-father puffery, on Halloween. And if cheap seats aren’t enough to get you to skip the annual parade of sexy girl scouts, meter maids and Klansmen, how ’bout this: an after-show party with free Ninkasi beer. Order online using the promo code “SPOOKY.” Gerding Theater, 128 NW 11th Ave., pcs.org. 7:30 pm Saturday, Oct. 31.

SCIENCE PARTY: Not only is admission to OMSI just $2 this Sunday, but the good folks at the science museum have put together a panel discussion for the following night’s Science Pub on how to avoid spreading the H1N1 you’ll inevitably pick up from Sunday’s onslaught of filthy children. OMSI, 1945 SE Water Ave., 797-4000, omsi.edu. Science Pub at the Bagdad Theater, 3702 SE Hawthorne Blvd., omsi.edu/sciencepubbagdad. 7-9 pm Monday, Nov. 2.

SAKE PARTY: Todbott’s Triangles, the mostly vegan farmers market cart that was a big hit at our 2009 Eat Mobile festival, is now a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Owners Todd Gillies and Ricky Haas are celebrating with a free tasting of their housemade sake and kombucha. Todbott’s Triangles, 2827 NE Alberta St., 971-344-9548. 6:30-9:30 pm Thursday, Oct. 29.

DINNER PARTY: Detour Cafe hosts five-course family-style dinners the last Friday of every month. The October menu includes “tortilla soup, black bean fritters, avocado salad, enchiladas and Mexican chocolate mousse.” The cost for all this, with wine and gratuity? $30. Detour Cafe, 3035 SE Division St., 234-7499, detourcafe.com. 7 pm Friday, Oct. 30. Reservations required.

PABST PARTY: O’Malley’s, the nicest bar on Foster Road, serves $6 pitchers of the ubiquitous brew 4-7 pm Monday-Friday, along with $2.50 well drinks and $3.50 microbrew pints. 6535 SE Foster Road, 777-0495, omalleyspdx.com.

INDIE PARTY: Holocene celebrates Portland’s independent-label scene with a showcase including K Records, Lucky Madison, Tender Loving Empire and HUSH and music by Congratulations, Rob Walmart, Selector Dub Narcotic, DJ Kev It Up, E*Rock and DJ Hot Air Balloon. Holocene, 1001 SE Morrison St., 239-7639, holocene.org. 8:30 pm Wednesday, Oct. 28. Free. 21+.
