  1. GOODBYE TO YOU: As previously reported by WW, legendary Portland rock club Satyricon will close its doors forever this Halloween. We were told then that the venue planned some big last-gasp shows, and that schedule is starting to shape up. The dates are still a work in progress, but throwback names we’ve seen so far include Smegma, Big Daddy Meat Straw, Nero’s Rome and a return of Portland Organic Wrestling. Among the other big shows: Quasi, Pond and M99 (holy shit!) play Oct. 23; Pierced Arrows, Napalm Beach and the Obituaries headline a night of old-school surprises on Oct. 30; the last show, fittingly, will be a loaded punk bill featuring longtime Satyricon regulars Poison Idea and Wehrmacht. One very big show was still under wraps as of press time—but it would really make us swoon if we were the last junkies on earth. Expect more Satyricon coverage from WW as the fateful date approaches.

TABLE SCRAPS: After shuttering his beloved Junior Ambassador’s ice cream cart last year, Rudy Speerschneider has reemerged, making his funky cold delights at North Mississippi area boîte Liberty Glass. On the menu right now? Vanilla-lime-cilantro ice cream. He’ll also be serving free tastes of a bunch of flavors from corn on the cob to gingersnap-and-basil 8-10 pm this Thursday at Washington High School as part of the TBA Festival’s The People’s Biennial art show, which includes the project “The History of the Junior Ambassador’s Ice Cream Food Cart.” >> Portland’s new brunch headquarters, John Gorham’s Tasty n Sons (3808 N Williams Ave., 621-1400), has announced it’s keeping the breakfast goodness going all day long, with “soft opening” dinner hours starting Tuesday, Sept. 14. Most of the brunch favorites will be represented on a small afternoon menu (available 3-5 pm) and on an expanded dinner menu (5-10 pm) that includes the fabled Toro Bravo burger and a few comfort-food faves every Tuesday through Saturday.
  1. BROADWAY BOUND: Imago Theatre is headed back to the Big Apple this year for a third appearance at the New Victory Theater. This time the longtime Portland performance institution is taking ZooZoo, a greatest-hits compilation of its perennially popular kids shows, which will also run this December in Portland.
  2. TABLE SWAP: Recently booted Oregonian food critic Roger Porter hasn’t wasted any time finding himself a seat at a new dinner table. Food Dude, the shadowy diner behind longtime local food website Portland Food and Drink, told us Porter will start writing for the site this month. “He’ll be writing reviews at first, and whatever strikes his fancy as time goes on,” the Dude explained. He also mentioned he’ll be covering Porter’s food costs through PFD advertising revenue.
