Cheap Eats 2009

The Caddy seems immune to the gentrification that's swept though Portland's bacon and eggs. No scrambled tempeh or prosciutto Benedict here, just excessive portions of fried goodies oozing with melted cheese and erring on the tacky side (a recent special was a pizza-style omelette complete with pepperoni and red sauce). Stick to the basics—eggs and bacon ($8.75), Denver omelette ($8.95), French toast ($7.50-$9)—steer clear of the sugary espresso bar, and you're in for an excellent all-American breakfast. (ES)
