Cheap Eats 2005

Whether you're a health nut or a freak for french fries, Dots is ready to serve, with offerings ranging from humongous home-cut servings (jalapeo-cheddar fries $4.50) to burgers and vegan offerings to compromised veggie-head heaven in the garden border melt ($6.50). A hipster hangout since 1992 thanks to its tasty cocktails and clouds of cigarette smoke, Dots flashes a new, cheery green-and-blue exterior but remains dark kitsch inside: velveteen wallpaper, ceramic-tile Virgin Marys and velvet Elvises.
