Cheap Eats 2008

If all you want is good sushi at an affordable price, then Hama Sushi, adjacent to the old Hollywood Trader Joe's, is for you. If you're after ambiance, smooth service, some adventurous options or something to listen to other than the dishwasher spraying off plates in the back, head elsewhere. At Hama the sushi selections are always fresh and generous, and you'll find all the usual accessories—noodles ($6.50-$7.50), teriyaki ($5.95-$9.50) and tempura ($5.50-$6.50). A tasty recent special roll ($5.75) wrapped tempura tuna and avocado with jalapeño masago. For swilling choose from a short but satisfying wine, beer and sake list. (LC)
