Solid omelettes, such as the spinach, bacon and jack ($9.50) or the marinated chicken, cream cheese and black olive ($9.50), float the morning, while sandwiches ($5.50-$10.50), salads ($4-$10.75) and pasta dishes ($9.75-$10) are what's for lunch. John Street Cafe is all about good, clean food with friendly service, which is probably why it's so often packed with regulars. Lunch favorite: blackened snapper salad ($10.75) layered with veggies, warm jasmine rice and romaine, dressed with lemon juice and olive oil. (LC)
