Cheap Eats 2008

An affordable lunch in the Pearl? Be still, my beating heart. At this kitschy cafe—the centerpiece of which is an enormous plastic tree, dangling above the tables—we recommend you stick to the basics. The Toscano panino ($7.95) is good, and the Torino panino ($8.70)—a delicious sandwich featuring prosciutto and mozzarella—is downright tasty. The sauce on the roasted-garlic fettuccine ($8) is creamy without much else to recommend it, but the 24 flavors of fresh-made gelato more than make up for it. (JKM)
