Horse Brass faithfully mimics an English pub, from the classics of the cuisine (a delicious corned beef sandwich is $6.25) to the decor, all muted incandescent lights on dark stained wood. But the real attraction is the huge selection of beer, ranging from Portland staples and hard-to-find microbrews to English imports. The pub's open atmosphere and long tables are perfect for large groups, and it may be the best place in Portland to find faded pictures of fallen English celebrities hanging on murky walls.
What to drink: Young's Double Chocolate Stout ($6.50/pint).
Happy hour: None.
Entertainment: Darts, TV.
