Cheap Eats 2010

This health-bent local chain has been keeping hasty, hungry Portlanders full and fast since 2000. Laughing Planet’s bowls ($4.75-$7.25) and burritos ($4.25-$6.25) range in inspiration from Mexican (beans, rice, corn) to Asian (rice and vegetables) to good ol’ fashioned comfort foods (yes, I would like mashed potatoes in my burrito, thank you). If you’re looking for greener grub, the “Caesar Chavez” salad is extraordinarily zesty—top it off with tender, steaming chunks of tempeh (for $2.25 more), and it’s a full-meal deal.
