Cheap Eats 2009

No matter the day of the week, Pause is likely hopping with happy diners and, in the early evening, a few vertically challenged types throwing back Shirleys and Roys. You've been warned. The Cuban sandwich ($8) layered with pulled pork, house-cured ham and house-pickled zucchini is a favorite. Snacks are tasty and varied: cod cakes with sambal remoulade ($8), deep-fried chicken confit in Jamaican jerk sauce ($6) and sliders ($3, two for $5). All go well with the several good beers on tap—including hard-to-find Czechvar ($4.25).
