Cheap Eats 2010

Homespun describes the menu and vibe at Arleta Library Cafe. The dishes are mismatched, the ketchup and jam are housemade and there's always a quiche of the day ($9). Although Arleta does lunch, breakfast is the main draw with scrambles, a killer biscuits-and-gravy ($10.50) and semolina griddlecakes ($7.50). The delectable Florentine ($9) scrambles eggs with spicy greens, ricotta and breadcrumbs, and comes with house potatoes and toast or the daily scone. Beware the hourlong weekend wait.
