Drink 2010

With bike frames hanging overhead at the bar, the HUB is the perfect spot for your typical IPA-worshipping Portland crowd. The fireplace, bright colors and self-proclaimed urban style set a warm mood under an arching, arklike ceiling. The menu does not expand much beyond sandwiches, calzones and burgers, but it doesn't need to. There are some amusing desserts, like the Survival Stout brownie and Hopworks float, but mostly this is just a place for quality beer. There is seating upstairs, and you can buy beers to go.
What to drink: Hopworks IPA, a 2008 World Beer Cup gold medal winner with 6.6 percent alcohol content, is extra bitter with flavors of citrus and pine.
Happy hour: $2.25 pizza slice with a minimum $2 drink purchase; 3-6 pm daily, 9 pm-close Sunday-Thursday, 10 pm-close Friday-Saturday.
Entertainment: Pinball; live music in the summer.
