Boastfully billed as "the most organic restaurant in Portland"—a claim that threatens to become our dithering city's version of New York's "famous pizza" plague—Papa G's is the best place in this blindingly green town for a quick vegan bite. Hot bar dishes like the "mac & cheeze" ($3.85 for a single serving) and the mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy ($2.50) are sturdy and satisfying approximations of their dairy-filled twins, but the seasonal salad bar ($9.75 a pound) is where Papa G's excels, with an impressive variety of cold produce and mostly raw toppings and sides.
