Cheap Eats 2010

The po' boys are bland and the kindly service can be glacial. But this dimly lit Cajun restaurant and sports bar, stuffed in the back corner of a multi-ethnic strip mall on Southeast 82nd Avenue, is rightfully revered for its steaming vats of Louisiana mudbugs ($11 a pound) served swimming in a lake of the spiciest, most buttery red sauce you will ever encounter in Portland. If crawfish aren't your thing, they'll also boil up everything from Dungeness crab to Gulf Coast shrimp in that fiery ambrosia. Mop the slop off your lips, fingers and shirt with the roll of paper towels they thoughtfully place on every table. Or better yet, soak up the leftovers with another serving of My Brother's moist, honey-soaked cornbread.
