Cheap Eats 2010

Drippy, gloppy, oozy and deliciously wet: Nick and Sara Medici's Northwest 21st Avenue restaurant and bar lives up to its name with a roster of serious, four-napkin sandwiches, the kind for which the bread is basically a yeasty sponge. Do not pass up the pulled-pork sandwich ($8.50), which shoves spicy roasted green chiles, havarti, cilantro aioli and braised pig between two warm pillows of ciabatta and leaves you with a lake of meat-'n'-mayo juice on your plate so big you can use Melt's excellent fries as potato mops. Then complete the death-by-carb lunch by washing it down with a cocktail, local micro or funky Fentimans soda.
