[PRODUCE] The concept is simple and well-implemented: a permanent open-air tent for year-round produce, from local farmers when in season and at rock-bottom prices when possible. Besides the fresh air, what is it that keeps a steady stream of customers wandering in? “The avocados,” blurts out one of Uncle Paul’s friendly employees. And he’s right, at least when it comes to curious newcomers. At 49 cents apiece, the fatty delicacies are difficult to resist. Check out the neon cardboard signs plastering the tent’s outer walls for more Sharpie-scrawled specials.

Grocery list: Jazz apples, heirloom oranges, organic wheatgrass, local jams.
