Anyone but naito....
Karin Immergut....who worked for Ken Starr and was hired to interrogate Monica Lewinsky...in Portland? The butler with a candlestick? How about Judy Shiprack?
You clearly don't follow local politics if you think Judy Shiprack should do anything but retire when her term is over.
There is only one true candidate for this position. Rod "The Bone" Underhill. Rod logs more hours at work then he does anywhere else. We elect Rod we get a guy who is on the job 24/365 .
So, if we pay him 200K...it's really 100K..because he's working 100% of the time. How this effects his veins, venules and capillaries is his business...with HIPPA protected confidentiality. The guy can run at full tilt for 30 years, retire and die...but we get a guy who is on the job 365/24/7...
Delegation? Not on his watch. More like micromanagerial minutaie management. But we get a good deal....
I've heard good things about Underhill....which is a good sign because there's relatively little nice to say about the MCDA's office.
Like the fact Riddle has caused resignations, if they were warranted and the officers were provided with due process. *Who cares what Staton thinks after the testing scandal...did anyone ever get Elliott the whistle blower on the MCSHO DPSST scandal off court house duty. Remember he was the guy who was retliated against by Skipper for reporting the lying on DPSST certifications. Staton explained it all away, as I recall.
If the current culture of the Multnomah County DA's office is an indicator, Naito and Immergut don't have a chance. The candidate must be: white, male, fratboyish, and a jogger. At least that's how it's been for the last twenty years. Those who advance within the department tend to fit a certain profile. The dynamic of this agency is like the "exclusive" country clubs of years past.
