Given “The People’s Republic” of Portland’s reputation as a city that’s unfriendly to private enterprise, we asked the five candidates seeking to replace ex-Commissioner Erik Sten to guess what percentage of businesses rated Portland as a good place to do business in the 2007 city auditor’s survey.


(Answer: 58 percent of businesses surveyed said Portland was a good—or very good—place to do business.)
