Raekwon (of the Wu-Tang clan)

To mark the occasion of legendary hip-hop crew the Wu-Tang Clan’s latest Portland visit, we decided to hand WW’s interview with Wu’s Raekwon over to the biggest fan we know: Ryan Feigh of Portland’s Lucky Madison Records. Feigh, a Wu-Tang die-hard since his senior year of high school (when the supergroup’s seminal Enter the Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers first dropped), came into the WW offices two hours before his scheduled phone interview, notes in hand.

But when Feigh finally got the Master Chef on the line, he was confused by some classic techniques of deception. Here we find our amateur sleuth asking the age-old question: Which members of the Clan would actually be onstage at Saturday’s show? But nothing in the Wu-Tang empire is as simple as it seems.

Ryan Feigh: When you guys come through to Portland, who’s going to be with y’all? Meth is not going to be there, because he’s on tour with Red, right?
Raekwon: Yeah, to my knowledge, though, I mean, you know what I mean, he’s running around doing what he has to do. But um, you know, my thing is just, you know, I’d just entertain players. I gotta make sure I get mine.

I feel you.
You know what I mean? It’s supposed to be everybody there. You know, I am sure brothers are going to be there. Brothers that are obligated to be there.

I know Ghost has been tour for a long time. But he’s going to be there, right?
Like I said, Ryan, all I know is that Rae is gotta be there. You know what I mean? Anything can happen, you know what I mean? He’s supposed to be there, he’s gotta be there. You know that’s what it is.

SEE IT: Wu-Tang Clan plays the Roseland Theater Saturday, Nov. 29. 8 pm. $35 advance, $40 day of show. All ages. The entire, befuddling interview is at LocalCut.com.

So, it's just going to be Raekwon?

I don't normall ycomment on rap, nor even acknowledge its existence; but I must ask: if Sarah Palin delivered herself of such meaningless, brain-dead gobblydegook blather as this person did in response to more or less succinct questions, wouldn't WW (justifiably) lead the derisive guffaws?
