For all you aspiring Beyoncés and Clay Aikens with Center Court dreams, the Blazers has a proposition: come over to the Rose Garden and belt out the National Anthem for your shot at pre-Blazers game glory.
That's right: The Blazers are holding a cattle-call OPEN AUDITION
tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 26, from noon to 6 pm
in the Rose Room at the Rose Garden arena. From the press release:
"Solo singers, duets and trios, quartets and choruses are invited. From guitars to sitars, pianos to kotos, national anthem performers are welcome to find the key to Francis Scott Key. Know the lyrics to "O, Canada"? Well, there's a December date with Toronto, so we'll be looking for Canadian anthem performers as well.
How could you miss this opportunity?
Auditions are on a first-come, first-served basis. Performances are a cappella. Parking for the auditions is free in the Garden Garage. Any questions, please E-Mail them to ToddTime@trailblazers.com"
Few things are more satisfying than a tingling stratospheric rendition (witness Whitney's famed 1991 reading, below)
or a wipe-out embarassment (see trainwreck below).
Oh yes, WW
will be there to document the gore and the glory that these sort of open calls usually offer. Check back Wednesday for audio clips and interviews.
