Here's something to chew on this Fourth of July:
Men's Health magazine has ranked
Portland as
America's most patriotic city, nosing out Salt Lake City and Kansas City.
The magazine said it
calculated the rankings based on percentage of registered voters who turned out for state and federal elections from 2004 to 2008 (Portland was ninth); money spent on military veterans per capita (Portland was 26th); percentage of residents who volunteer, participate in civic activities, and/or work with neighbors (Portland was 10th); and sales of fireworks and U.S. flags (Portland was 38th).
