EAT: Fight for Fairness with Food at Bites for Rights

Today marks an historic day in the struggle for equality – the day you selflessly ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at your favorite restaurant. On June 24, more than 70 restaurants statewide are donating large portions of their proceeds to Basic Rights Oregon, an organization devoted to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights. For one day, all it takes to be a good ally is a romantic meal or a few happy hour drinks.

Juan Martinez, development director for Basic Rights Oregon, encourages friends, family and community members to get involved and support Bites for Rights. "We are proud to live in a state where so many businesses are committed to working with Basic Rights Oregon until the day that each and every one of us are treated with fairness and respect by our neighbors," Martinez says.

So don't feel guilty about blowing your restaurant budget instead of dining in tonight--I promise, you're doing a good deed. Check out the list of participating restaurants and bars, and let the feast of fairness begin!
