A former police officer insists he was just following his training. Yet he's sentenced to 10 years in prison for a controversial shooting during a traffic stop.
Sound familiar? Not in Portland, where no cop has been indicted for on-duty use of force in decades.
Yet apparently it does happen. Check out
this news from Toledo, Ohio. I've posted intriguing cop news in the past from Toledo — near the tiny burg where I grew up. Strange things happen there.
For instance, the police union
threw a fit and called in sick when the city cut members' benefits due to a budget crunch. Yet in Toledo, Mayor Mike Bell
refused to back down to the police union and is now taking it to court.
Very different from what happens in
Portland when the police union demands to get its way.
