In the wake of
recent reports of attacks against the LGBTQ community outside downtown gay clubs, we're happy to report that Portland's
Pride Weekend passed without any similar incidents.
Portland Police spokesperson Mary Wheat said there were no reports of attacks. And Q Center director
Kendall Clawson also said the weekend went great, with the added bonus that the events gave organizers a chance to advertise
Q Patrol, a community foot patrol to observe and report harassment outside gay night clubs.
“A ton of people signed up to join Q Patrol,” Clawson said. “People are a lot more conscious and aware and vigilant.”
