When Police Punch Citizens: Seattle Debates a Controversial Recent Arrest

Seattle police punch

Seven months after Portlanders launched into a debate over an officer who shot a 12-year-old girl with a beanbag gun, Seattleites are embroiled in their own controversy over violence between police and civilians.

This time, a male officer in the Emerald City punched a 17-year-old girl after she and her friend allegedly resisted arrest for jaywalking. Here's the blow-by-blow according to the police, as recounted in a story picked up from Seattle's KOMO News.

As in the Portland case involving Officer Christopher Humphreys, the incident in Seattle was captured on video — which will no doubt lead to endless analysis by internet commenters. Have at it.
